USS Enterprise, Armenian genocide and Afghan shooting: Morning roundup

The longest and oldest aircraft carrier in the U.S. fleet has set off on its final voyage. The USS Enterprise, which was featured in the film “Top Gun,” departed from Norfolk on Sunday, the Associated Press reports.

The ship has a long history. Over the past 50 years, it was involved in several wars, acted as a spotter ship for John Glenn’s historic orbit of Earth and played a significant role in the Cuban missile crisis.
It is also the world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
